FIFA 23 World Cup mode: UK launch time & EA predicts the result
Whether or not football comes home, a World Cup mode will be coming to FIFA 23.
EA releases its FIFA 23 World Cup mode today, much to the excitement of football-loving gamers around the globe.
As well as allowing fans to play through the Qatar-hosted tournament for themselves, this new World Cup mode is also beefing out the FIFA 23 soundtrack with loads of new songs (in fact, you'll recognise many of these 'ultimate' tracks from previous FIFA games).
EA has also been trying to predict how the real-life tournament will go, using the game to simulate the results. They ultimately decided that Argentina will win, so make of that what you will!
So, what time does the FIFA 23 World Cup mode come out and what else do you need to know about it? Check out our handy guide below!
When is the FIFA 23 World Cup mode coming?
The FIFA 23 World Cup mode will launch on 9th November 2022.
Fans will be able to download the update on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Sadly, there is no sign of the World Cup mode update launching on the Nintendo Switch version of the game, which seems unfair for those who prefer their FIFA on the go.
When is the FIFA 23 World Cup mode release time?
The FIFA 23 World Cup mode release time should be 6pm GMT on Wednesday 9th November.
No official release time has been given but 6pm is more often than not when FIFA 23 updates go live. Regardless, the free World Cup mode should be playable from 9th November. It's time to take England (or Wales, no bias here) all the way to the final.

What do we know about the FIFA 23 World Cup mode?
The World Cup mode has now been revealed in a lengthy EA pitch notes blog, which confirmed that there will be multiple things to do within the new mode.
The video below is also official, and it sums up the World Cup mode very nicely in under five minutes. Take a look:
There will be Kick Off exhibition matches, offline tournaments, online tournaments and a new feature called World Cup Live. This will allow you to quick-play any fixture in the tournament (offline or online) or 'inherit the progress' of a real-life team to see if you can do better.
Meanwhile, in FIFA Ultimate Team, every player that travels to the real-life tournament will get a Player Item in FUT, and there will also be World Cup Swaps (from 11th November onwards). There will be campaigns to play through, too, as well as new Heroes cards that celebrate World Cup legends (complete with Marvel illustrations). You can see those below.
What did we learn from the FIFA 23 World Cup mode leaks?
As the tweet below shows, EA did accidentally release the FIFA 23 World Cup mode a little bit early on PS5, confirming last month the modes that will be included.
Another interesting detail to come out of the leaks is this: it appears that, at the time of the leak, EA has not put the official names of Brazilian players into the mode.
It seems like there might be some kind of rights situation here, but only time will tell if this remains in place when the actual mode comes out. We'll be sure to update this page as we learn more!
